Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) Calculator

Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) is the total cost your business spends to acquire a new customer. It includes all marketing and sales expenses such as advertising, salaries, software tools, agency fees, and other related costs divided by the number of customers acquired in that period.

To calculate CAC, divide your total marketing and sales spend by the number of new customers acquired during the same time period. For example, if you spent $50,000 and acquired 250 customers, your CAC is $200 per customer ($50,000 ÷ 250 = $200).

Include all costs related to customer acquisition: paid advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.), marketing salaries and commissions, software and tools (CRM, email marketing, analytics), agency and consultant fees, content creation costs, event and sponsorship expenses, and any other marketing or sales-related expenditures.

A good CAC depends on your industry and Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). As a general rule, your CAC should be no more than one-third of your CLV. For example, if your CLV is $900, your CAC should ideally be under $300. SaaS companies typically aim for a 3:1 LTV:CAC ratio.
