Character Counter

Yes. The main character count includes spaces, tabs, and line breaks, and a separate card shows the count without whitespace so you can compare both.

No. All counting runs locally in your browser. Your text and files are never sent to a server, so drafts and unreleased product copy stay private.

Words are detected using the browser text segmenter when available, with a whitespace fallback. Lines are counted by line breaks, and we also show non-empty lines.

Presets cover X posts (280), meta titles (60), meta descriptions (160), Product Hunt taglines (60), and LinkedIn posts (3,000). You can also enter any custom limit.

You can upload plain text based files: TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, HTML, SRT, and VTT up to 5 MB. Files are read as raw text, so markup and syntax characters are counted too.

Where your browser supports it, emojis and accented characters are counted as a single visible character. Platforms like X may weigh some characters differently, so leave a small buffer.
